A photo-etched set for the Leopard 2A5 in 1:35 scale is a more extensive add-on set for a plastic kit you already own, not a model. It replaces plastic parts with thin brass across the whole vehicle, from the fenders to the small clamps. It reckons with the Tamiya 35242 kit.

An add-on set of photo-etched brass parts from Voyager Model, cut for the Tamiya 35242 plastic kit. It is not a kit and not a finished model. In scope and in conception it matches a larger set, one that does not confine itself to a single assembly but goes over the vehicle as a whole.
The Leopard 2A5 is a modernized version of the German main battle tank. Its most conspicuous feature is the wedge-shaped add-on armor on the turret front, and beyond that a reworked driver's station and revised internal equipment. The outside of the vehicle carries a quantity of thin sheet-metal features: the fenders and their flaps, covers, grilles, tool holders and stowage boxes, that is exactly the components an injection mold cannot produce at a thickness true to scale.
Hard brass springs back and larger curved parts are difficult to form. Brief annealing helps: hold the part over a flame for a moment, until it glows faintly, and let it cool freely. The metal softens, the bend then holds where you put it and does not try to spring back. Do not overdo it; overheated brass coarsens and breaks. Annealing makes sense above all on larger formed surfaces; leave small parts hard so that they keep their shape. Degrease the part again after annealing, because the surface tends to be oxidized.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit and does not make up a model on its own. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
