A small accessory to figures in 1:35 scale from the Czech manufacturer Special Hobby. The package holds two helmets of the German civil air defense, and the number of pieces is stated directly in the name of the set. These are neither figures nor a kit but separate castings intended for conversion and for completing a scene.
The civil air defense used a helmet with a pronounced, easily recognizable shape that differs from the ordinary military one. In miniature that is valuable: even in 1:35 scale a viewer recognizes this shape and immediately places who it is they see in the scene. You can put the helmet on a converted figure, lay it on a crate as a prop set aside, or place it in the hand of a character who is about to head for shelter. Two pieces allow both: one to use and one in reserve for an experiment.
Cut the castings off with a saw, level the seating surface on sandpaper and sand the head of the figure under the helmet down slightly, so that the helmet does not merge with the hair and does not sit unnaturally high. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap before painting. Check the particular color treatment against a photograph of the subject you are building; on a small part a base shade, a thin dark line around the rim and a discreet dry brush over the crown, which brings the shape out, all work well.
This is an accessory to figures, not the figures themselves. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
