Use in a scene

The notices are glued to doors, shop windows, boarded-up windows and information boards; separate warning signs belong on stems along a road, on fences and on barriers. Place them where people would pass — at entrances, at a crossroads, by a barrier. You can strengthen the effect by putting the same notice in several places one after another, as a patrol would have distributed it in reality.

Gluing, backing and weathering

• Back the signs with thin plastic or card; they gain mass and a readable shadow.
• Make the stem from wire or plastic profile and glue the paper onto the finished structure.
• Apply PVA glue in a thin layer to the undercoat, so that the sheet does not buckle.
• Rub the cut edges over with paint; a white edge on a sign gives the paper away in a scene at once.
• A wash, fine rust at the fixings and matte clear coat set a sign into the setting.
