A set of figures in 1:35 scale cast in resin from the manufacturer Bravo 6. It is neither a kit of a vehicle nor of an aircraft but an accessory for dioramas and scenes from the period of the war in Vietnam. According to the name of the set it is a pair of figures, an American military one and a civilian female one, that is a genre scene from the rear away from combat activity. The castings are unpainted and unassembled; both the building and the painting are entirely up to the modeler.
Figures of this type are cast in silicone molds, so they hold sharp detail on the folds of the cloth, on the kit and on the footwear. The soldier figure is rendered in tropical field dress with light kit, the civilian figure in period civilian clothing. The composition is built as a quiet, conversational scene, so it suits a street or a camp scene rather than a combat subject. The set is supplied as an assembly of separate parts, usually torso, head, limbs and small kit, which are tried out dry before gluing.
First wash the castings in lukewarm water with detergent, so that the remains of the release agent from the mold are removed, or the primer will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw, sand the parting seams down wet and protect your airways while sanding resin. Join the parts with cyanoacrylate super glue, because ordinary cement for plastic has no effect on resin. Then apply a thin primer. Build the skin and the clothing up from a base tone through the shadows to lightened edges; in this scale acrylic paints and fine-tuning with oil paints or thin washes into the folds prove themselves.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted as resin castings. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
