A model of the American shipborne MK-15 Phalanx close-in weapon system in the version with add-on armor, 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
Phalanx, designated MK-15, is the last defensive layer of a ship. It carries everything it needs on a single traversing mount: under the white radome it has its own radar for finding and tracking a target, and below that a rapid-firing six-barrel 20 mm cannon. If an anti-ship missile gets through the other defenses, Phalanx has only a few seconds to hit it, which is why it works on its own, without waiting for an order from the ship's command post. The cylindrical radome with its dome, set above the cannon, gives it a silhouette that cannot be mistaken for anything else on board.
The model captures the version with add-on armor, that is with protective plates at the exposed places on the assembly. The 1:35 scale makes it possible to show even the small details of the mount and the attachment that get lost in the usual ship scales, and it therefore suits a stand-alone base as well as a scene with figures. Check the number of parts, the material, the way the parts are made and the presence of decals in the manufacturer's instructions.
Line the barrels up on one axis and try the assembly dry before gluing; a cluster set askew shows on a finished model straight away. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Leave the radome light; the bottom of the mount will take traces of salt and rust. The ship model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
