A diorama accessory from Eureka XXL in 1:35 scale. It is not a vehicle model or a kit but a scale reproduction of a tough Pelican transport case, the kind in which the modern US Army moves the M240B machine gun. The accessory suits the bed of a vehicle, the crew compartment, the ground beside figures or an armory, where such cases stand stacked up.
Pelican transport cases are shell-type boxes of tough plastic with a perimeter seal, folding latches and handles. The versions intended for weapons have a shaped inner insert that holds the weapon and its accessories in place, and the lid usually carries a label marking the contents. The M240B is a 7.62 mm general-purpose machine gun that replaced older types in the US Army in the infantry support role and, in slightly modified versions, is also used as vehicle armament. It is precisely because of its weight and size that it is carried separately in a case and assembled on the spot.
Separate the parts carefully, clean up the mating faces and wash and degrease them before painting. A thin primer, the base shade from an airbrush and the details finished with a brush prove their worth. Real cases have a flat surface, so knock the result back with a flat varnish. Bring the latches, hinges and handles out with gentle dry-brushing and suggest the label on the lid with a decal or a fine brush. Do not leave the case on its own in a scene but link it with other equipment, so that a readable still life comes about.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and figures are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
