The 1:35 NATO MLRS wheel masking set is a sheet of pre-cut templates for separating the rubber tires from the disks of the road wheels. The set is cut for the kit from the manufacturer Dragon.
Responsibility details are not available.
It is not a kit, but an accessory for painting. The templates set the boundary between the rubber tire and the disk of a road wheel, so you do not have to draw it around freehand. The set is cut for the model of the MLRS rocket system from the manufacturer Dragon.
The MLRS is a self-propelled rocket system on a tracked chassis derived from an infantry fighting vehicle. The chassis is long and the road wheels are spread along its whole length, so they form a prominent part of the side view of a model.
On tracked hardware the road wheels tend to be the part of the build that takes unexpectedly much time, and that not because of complexity but because of repetition. Every wheel means one circular boundary, which has to be drawn around so that it looks the same as on all the others. Drawing around by hand with a brush is work for several evenings and the result differs from wheel to wheel. With a pre-cut mask it becomes a single coherent operation, that is apply, spray over and take off. The time saved is moreover not counted only in hours at the table. The repeated retouching falls away as well, and with it the risk that on the last pieces you will start to rush and the result will not be uniform. On a vehicle with a long chassis, such as the MLRS, that difference is felt most.
The package holds only the masking templates. The kit, paints and thinners are not included in it. Before purchase verify that you are building exactly the kit mentioned.
