Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Norwegian NM 116 reconnaissance tank destroyer in 1:35 scale from AFV Club. The model captures the modernized version of the M24 Chaffee light tank and offers a metal barrel for the 90 mm gun with a hollowed bore, an accurate shape of the hull and the turret, and the tracks and drive sprockets specific to this variant. The package holds parts in gray plastic, decals and assembly instructions.
The NM 116 came about in the 1970s through the rebuilding of American M24 Chaffee light tanks that the Norwegian Army had kept for reconnaissance. The vehicle received a new diesel engine and an automatic transmission derived from the M113 carrier, and in place of the original 75 mm gun a French low-pressure 90 mm gun with a coaxial heavy machine gun. The modernization was substantially cheaper than buying new light tanks.
Clean and degrease the metal barrel before gluing and painting. Assemble the running gear and the tracks separately and weather them before fitting them to the hull. An airbrush suits the Norwegian olive or winter camouflage; complete the wear effects with washes, edge rubbing and dust pigments on the underside of the vehicle.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
