1:35 Panther Ausf. A — Panzerbefehlswagen is a decal sheet for the command version of the German tank. It is not a kit but an accessory to one.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is not a model or a kit — it is a sheet of decals for models of the command version of the German medium tank Panther Ausf. A in 1:35 scale. The decals serve to mark a finished model: tactical numbers, unit distinguishing signs and other markings that are laid onto the plastic once it is coated. The manufacturer Elefant issues a whole range of decal sheets for equipment in this scale.
Panzerbefehlswagen was the designation of the command conversion of German tanks. The vehicle kept the external appearance and the armament of the basic type, but in the turret and the hull it carried radio sets and the equipment that went with them as well, which showed on the outside above all in a different arrangement of antennas. Ausf. A was one of the production versions of the Panther medium tank, in use from 1943. Only a fraction as many command vehicles were built as ordinary tanks, so this is a less usual variant for a modeler.
Decals belong on a gloss base. A matte finish has a microscopically broken-up surface, air stays under the film of the decal and a silvery veil appears, so spray the area with a gloss clear coat first. Cut the sheet as close to the motif as you can, so that a minimum of clear film is left. Soak the decal in warm water only briefly, until it starts to move on the paper, and carry it to the place of application together with the paper. On a broken-up surface and across rivets a decal softener helps. Once it is dry, fix the surface with a matte or satin coat, which evens out the gloss and hides the edge of the film.
This is an accessory for modelers, not a standalone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
