This set from the manufacturer SX-Art brings self-adhesive stencils for spraying the camouflage scheme on a model of the Pantsir-S1 air defense system in 1:35 scale. The stencils are applied to the painted model, the rest of the surface is covered and the airbrush sprays only into the defined shapes. This product has nothing to do with masking the glazing.
The Pantsir-S1 is a Russian mobile short and medium range air defense system that combines surface-to-air guided missiles and a pair of 30 mm rapid-fire cannons on one chassis. The turret carries radar and electro-optical equipment for searching for and tracking targets. The carrier is usually a heavy wheeled vehicle, which lets the system move under its own power.
The large flat box of the superstructure and the big turret are ideal for stencils, but they hide a trap: the larger the area, the longer the edge you have to seal. Work from the lightest shade to the darker ones — a light base sprayed first is easily covered by a darker tone, while the other way round is practically impossible. Let each coat cure properly, otherwise it will be pulled off when the next stencil is applied. Press the film down with a finger from the center toward the edges so that no air is trapped under it, and around handles, hinges and fittings press it home with a toothpick. Spray at lower pressure and from the edge inwards. Once the paint has set, remove the stencils and correct any small bleed with a brush in the lighter shade before you start weathering.
