E.T. Model 1:35 PLA ZTZ-96B Main Battle Tank is a photo-etched detail set made of thin metal for a model of the Chinese ZTZ-96B main battle tank. It is not a kit, but an accessory for a model you already have.

The set holds photo-etched parts, that is parts etched out of thin sheet metal, for improving a plastic model of the Chinese ZTZ-96B main battle tank in 1:35 scale. It is neither a model nor a kit. Photo-etched metal replaces plastic parts where a molding is too thick for the scale: the cooling grilles, the covers, the fenders and their flanges, the loops, the lifting eyes, the clamps, the tool brackets and the small sheet-metal fittings. The model thereby gains sharp edges and a plate thickness that is correct for the scale.
The ZTZ-96B is an upgraded version of the Chinese main battle tank of the ZTZ-96 family. The vehicle carries a large-caliber gun with an autoloader, and in its upgraded form it was given strengthened protection, reworked running gear and an improved powerpack. It became known to a wider public through its appearances at international tank competitions, where the vehicle could be seen close up and on the move. For the modeler it is an interesting alternative to the usual Western and Russian vehicles, and the photo-etched set helps to bring out on the surface the details that a plastic mold simplifies.
Cut the photo-etched parts off with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface, and never break them out. Make the folds in a photo-etch bender or between two razor blades. Glue them with the smallest possible amount of cyanoacrylate; on larger parts consider soldering. Degrease the metal before painting and brush on a metal primer. For a contemporary tank choose restrained weathering: fine dust, a discreet wash in the engraving, slight fading of the large surfaces and wear only in the places where the crew walks over the vehicle.
This is an accessory set for advanced modelers. It does not hold a model or a kit, and glue and paints are not included in the package.
