The Quickwheel 1:35 masking set for the road wheels of the Pz.Kpfw.IV and StuG.IV is cut for the newer molding of the Academy kit. It serves to separate the rubber tire band from the wheel rim while spraying paint.

This is not a kit or replacement wheels, but an accessory for painting: a set of masks from Quickwheel that you stick onto the finished wheels from the box and spray straight away. According to its name it is cut for the newer molding of the Academy kit — the shape and diameter of the wheels differ between manufacturers, so the set is tied to that very subject and you should check the match before ordering.
The Pz.Kpfw.IV carried eight small road wheels on each side, paired into four bogies sprung on leaf springs, with return rollers above, the drive sprocket at the front and the idler wheel at the rear. The StuG.IV assault gun was created on the same hull tub, so its running gear is essentially identical. For the modeler only one thing follows from that: there are many wheels and all of them have a narrow rubber tire band around the circumference. Sixteen small discs with a thin rim are exactly the work that hand masking stretches out by a whole evening and during which a hand most often slips.
Clean the remains of flash off the wheels first and degrease them. Lay the mask onto a dry, perfectly set base coat, press it down around the circumference and spray square, in thin coats — a heavy coat tends to run under the edge. Choose a tire band color toward a grayish dark rather than a rich black; rubber running surfaces never look black in scale. Lift the mask off while the paint has only flashed off, not when it is perfectly cured.
