1:35 Russian Soldiers of Special Troops FSB

Russian soldier of the FSB special troops, 1:35 scale, Evolution Miniatures

A resin figure set in 1:35 scale capturing a member of the Russian special troops in modern equipment. The casting of gray modeling resin is supplied unpainted, unassembled and with casting blocks. The set is intended for modelers who build scenes from present-day conflicts or who are adding a crew and escort to modern armored vehicles.

The real subject

The figure is based on the dress and equipment of the Russian special troops of recent decades. Typical elements are a camouflaged suit, a tactical vest with magazine pouches, a protective helmet or a balaclava, knee and elbow pads and a personal weapon with accessories. It is precisely the layering of the equipment that sets a modern figure apart from a classic figure of the Second World War period, and in painting it offers room for work with materials, that is nylon, rubber and metal.

Building and painting tips

Wash the casting in lukewarm water with dish soap to remove the release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw, sand the surfaces wet and protect your airways. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue and fill any seams with modeling putty. After primer, paint the camouflage pattern in layers, from the base tone through the patches to a fine accent on the edges. Set the tactical vest and the straps apart with a shade of a different sheen, so that they do not merge with the suit, and bring out the metal parts with a dry brush. A matte clear coat at the end will even the surface out and suppress unwanted gloss.
