A large injection-molded plastic kit of the T-80UD main battle tank in the early production version in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. The set offers a richly detailed turret and a lower hull produced with a multi-part mold, tracks made of individual links and photo-etched parts. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The T-80UD is the version of the Soviet T-80U main battle tank powered by a diesel engine instead of a gas turbine. Series production took place in Ukraine. The early production version differs from the later ones in details of the armor and the external fittings.
Given the high part count, plan the build in sub-assemblies; first finish the running gear and the protection blocks, then the turret. Clean up the individual track links and join them into a run. Glue the plastic with thin cement, spray the surface with a primer and apply the paints with an airbrush; bring out the details with a wash and restrained weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
