1:35 Sd.Kfz.186 Jagdtiger fenders is a photo-etched set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard focused on the fenders of the German heavy tank destroyer. It is an accessory to a plastic model, not a kit.

The set is tightly focused: according to the name it concentrates on the fenders of the vehicle, that is on a part that on the real hardware is formed from thin sheet and on a plastic model always comes out thick in scale. A photo-etched replacement in metal looks markedly more faithful seen from the side as well as from above, and it can moreover be shaped: bent, rippled, or used to suggest a missing piece. The package contains no model of the vehicle, only metal parts. The manufacturer is Eduard, a Czech company from Obrnice near Most.
The Sd.Kfz.186 Jagdtiger was a German heavy tank destroyer of the last phase of the Second World War. Built on the lengthened Tiger II chassis, it carried a 128 mm gun in a fixed casemate and was the heaviest series-built tracked fighting vehicle of its day. It was precisely its weight and size that made the fenders a highly stressed component, which in service often deformed or was lost, and that is why they are so often addressed in modeling practice.
Cut the plastic fenders off the kit and level the surface with a file before you lay the metal on. Try the photo-etched fender dry first and mark where it will meet the superstructure. Make the folds along the etched groove; if you plan to show damage, bend the sheet over a round bar or dent it lightly with the blunt side of a scalpel, as unlike plastic metal holds the shape and does not break. A missing piece of fender can be suggested by cutting it off and rippling the edge slightly. Glue with super glue, and on long seams rather with epoxy, which gives time to settle the part and leaves no white haze. Painting: degrease, a primer for metal, the base shade, then a wash and pigments. The fenders are the dustiest and muddiest place on the vehicle, so the heaviest weathering belongs exactly here.
The set is an accessory to a plastic kit. The model itself, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
