Masking set for the Soviet T-34/85 medium tank in 1:35 scale. It contains two sets of masks for the national insignia and masks for the road wheels, that is for the rubber tires.
Responsibility details are not available.
Mask sets for ground equipment tackle an entirely different task from the aircraft ones. A tank has no glazed cockpit, but it does have road wheels with a rubber tire and markings on the turret that have to be legible and yet must not look like stuck-on paper. It is these two things that the set deals with, and that is why you will find nothing about clear parts in its contents.
The tank received the 85 mm gun in 1944 along with a new, roomier turret for three men. The commander at last did not have to worry about loading and the machine matched its German opponents at greater ranges too. Broad road wheels with a pair of discs and the steeply sloped front of the hull remained characteristic features.
The tire of a wheel is the most tiresome detail of the whole tank. The rubber is darker than the surrounding green finish, the circle is continuous and a brush makes ripples on it that are clearly visible in 1:35 scale. With a mask the discs are sprayed all at once and the edge comes out the same on every wheel. The insignia are sprayed only over a dry base, so that wet paint does not get under the film. Anyone wanting a worn look can go over the finished insignia with a light coat of a dusty shade.
