An accessory for painting, not a kit and not a replacement part. The templates mark out the rubber tire band of the road wheel and allow it to be sprayed with a sharp border. The set is cut for the MiniArt 37002 kit. We give the target kit because a separate set is cut for the original T-44 version for a different kit, and the two cannot be swapped.
On this subject the modernization touched the running gear itself, and that matters for a masking set. Where the original machine had wheels of its own type, the modernized version took over road wheels standardized with the later series, that is, a large disc with pronounced cutouts arranged in a star and with a wide rubber tire band around the circumference. That is a different geometry from its predecessor and therefore a different template. Five wheels on each side remain, as do torsion bar suspension and the solution with no return rollers — the track runs directly over the upper edges of the wheels. The star-shaped disc brings one practical complication with it: there is relatively little material between the tire band and the cutouts, so lining by hand easily takes you into a pressing where the paint looks different from the smooth surface.
On star-shaped wheels the effect of the templates is above average, precisely because a hand-drawn line on such a disc looks even worse than on a smooth one — thanks to the cutouts the eye has a fixed reference shape and spots every departure of the tire band from a circle at once. It therefore pays off even for someone who normally paints wheels by hand and is happy with the result. The set is unnecessary if you intend to sink the running gear in mud up to the axles, or when you are building the model quickly with no emphasis on the chassis. And make doubly sure you have the right variant — the set for the original version will not fit modernized wheels.
