Turned barrel for the M10 in 1:35 scale from Aber: a metal replacement for the barrel of the 76.2 mm gun. It is not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A turned metal barrel in 1:35 scale for a model of the American M10 tank destroyer, that is, for the 76.2 mm gun. It is not a kit but a replacement for the plastic part. On the open turret of the M10 the barrel is long and exposed, so every unevenness and parting line shows on it. The metal is straight, thin-walled at the muzzle and needs no sanding.
The M10 was an American tank destroyer built on a medium tank chassis, with lighter armor and an open five-sided turret. It carried a 3-inch gun, which at the time of its introduction could punch through the armor of ordinary German vehicles. The vehicle was lighter and faster than a tank, and doctrine expected it to engage from a firing position and change place quickly rather than fight a long close-range battle.
Cut the plastic barrel off as close to the turret as possible and drill the seating so that the pin of the metal barrel sits firmly without passing right through. Degrease the metal with alcohol and apply a primer, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface. It is bonded with super glue, that is, cyanoacrylate, applied drop by drop. Fit the barrel at the very end of the build so that it is not bent during handling, and check its axis by eye from the front while the glue sets.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
