The Voyager Model 1:35 photo-etched detail set for the American M109A2 self-propelled howitzer is an accessory for a plastic kit you already own, not a model in itself. It is cut for the AFV Club 35109 kit and replaces oversized plastic features with thin brass.

The product is a set of photo-etched brass parts for detailing one particular plastic kit, which you will not find in the package. The parts are etched to the dimensions of that kit, so you will not use them on another model without modification. Voyager Model is a Chinese manufacturer of photo-etched accessories for military subjects in 1:35 scale.
The M109 is an American tracked self-propelled howitzer of 155 mm caliber with a rotating turret, taken into service in the 1960s and upgraded through a series of versions. The A2 configuration brought changes to the turret and the artillery equipment and spread beyond the United States as well. The silhouette of the vehicle is typified by the tall angular turret with large hatches, stowage baskets and a quantity of external equipment.
The difference shows most where the sheet really ought to be thin: on covers, hatches, protective mesh and above all on the stowage baskets. A plastic basket is always a solid or merely suggested structure that cannot be seen through, whereas a photo-etched one has real openings and a depth of its own. Likewise with brackets and strips, plastic in 1:35 scale manages a minimum thickness of around half a millimeter, which corresponds to almost two centimeters in reality. Photo-etched brass is an order thinner and, seen from the side, the part finally looks like sheet rather than a plank.
Cut the parts off with a scalpel on a hard surface; assemble baskets and frames on a flat surface and keep checking the right angles. Glue with thin cyanoacrylate applied with a pin. Before painting, degrease the brass and cover it with a primer for metal; spray perforated surfaces thinly and from a distance, so that the openings do not fill in. Artillery subjects will take heavy dusting of the lower areas and wear on the running gear.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit, which it does not include. The glue, paints and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
