A sheet of dry transfers in 1:35 scale with uniform patches of US Army infantry divisions. According to the name it covers the 70th, 87th, 90th, 91st and 104th Divisions. The set serves to mark figures; it is not a model, a kit or a package of figures.
The fundamental difference from ordinary decals: the sheet is not soaked off in water. Cut the motif out together with its carrier film, lay it face down on the sleeve of the figure, hold it with tweezers and burnish gently with a rounded point, a toothpick, a bone burnisher or a pencil without lead. The motif is released from the film and passes straight into the finish. Lift the film slowly and at an angle; if the whole area has not transferred, return it to exactly the same position and burnish again. Soaking will ruin the sheet.
A uniform patch is very small in 1:35 scale, and that is where the main weakness of a waterslide decal shows: on the matte cloth of a uniform the carrier film leaves a glossy island that shows through even after matting. A dry transfer leaves no film at all, so the marking looks painted on. The surface should be smooth, well dried and degreased; on a coarsely grained surface only part of the motif transfers. Lead the pressure from the center of the motif out to the edges and work in small steps, because the sleeve is rounded. A magnifier and good lighting come in useful. After transfer, seal the marking with a light coat of matte varnish.
