A plastic kit of the M10 tank destroyer in Soviet service, in 1:35 from the manufacturer Academy. The package is based on the mold of the American M10 and is completed with markings of the machines handed over to the Soviet Union under the Lend-Lease program. Besides the injection-molded plastic it also holds a photo-etched part and vinyl tracks, so the model can be built without having to buy accessories.
The M10 was an American tank destroyer built on the chassis of the Sherman medium tank. It carried a gun of 76 mm caliber in an open-topped turret, which speeded up the crew's work and gave a better view but exposed them to shell splinters. Both the hull and the turret had sloped armor plates, which improved protection at a low weight. Some of the vehicles built were delivered to the Allies, among them the Soviet Union, where the machines served with separate units intended for fighting armored vehicles.
Finish and paint the running gear and the inside of the hull before you close the upper part up, as there is no reaching them once it is glued. An open-topped turret means that the interior, the ammunition stowage and the seats will be visible, so give them more time and bring the shadows out with a dark wash. Rid the vinyl tracks of release agent before fitting them and paint them with acrylic, as ordinary cement for plastic has no effect on them. Dust pigments and muddy effects work well over a green base on the lower parts and the running gear.
