An accessory set of the Rolls-Royce RB211-22 engine in its late form for models of airliners in 1:144 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Rolls-Royce RB211-22 was the first member of the famous RB211 family, a turbofan engine with a high bypass ratio and three coaxial shafts. It was precisely this engine that powered the wide-body Lockheed L-1011 TriStar. The arrangement with three shafts was a novelty at the time and set the engine apart from competing solutions. The Late designation sets the later form of the engine and its nacelle apart from the earlier one, which in the same range is represented by a separate item; the differences are in details of the external shape, which a modeler notices on a finished nacelle.
This is an accessory set intended to replace or supplement the engine nacelle on a model in 1:144 scale. The extent of the parts and which kit the set is cut for follow from the instructions of the manufacturer.
The parts are not of polystyrene, and ordinary modeling cement has no effect on them. They are glued with super glue; on larger areas a thicker glue proves useful, as it gives time to position the part. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder down carefully, so you do not cut into the part. Before painting, wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap and degrease them, otherwise paint holds badly. Try the seating of the nacelle dry before you reach for the glue.
The set is for builders of airliners in 1:144 scale who want a more accurate engine nacelle than a base kit offers. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
