A printed paper accessory from ETA diorama for scenes in 1:35 scale. You cut the individual elements from the sheet and glue them into a diorama; it is neither a kit nor a waterslide decal. Designs of video cassettes belong among the small furnishings of civilian interiors of the second half of the 20th century, where they made a typical and easily recognizable detail on shelves and side tables.
Cassettes and their sleeves suit shelves, racks in a store, the cabinet under a television, the table beside an armchair or a scattered pile on the floor. Work with them as a group: several pieces lined up spine out, one tilted and one lying flat make a natural disorder. A single element in the middle of an empty area, by contrast, looks stuck on. If you are building a rack, vary the heights slightly so that the row does not look like one printed strip.
Cut with a scalpel against a metal ruler and darken the cut edge with a pencil. So that the element does not look flat, back it with thin plastic, card or several layers of paper — only volume turns a print into an object. Then paint the side edges so that they follow on from the print. Glue thinly with PVA or matte paper glue brushed onto the surface. At the end comes a weak wash to bring out the gaps between the pieces, a light pass with a dry brush over the edges and matte varnish, which brings the sheen of the print into line with the rest of the diorama.
