1:350 F4F-4 Wildcat (Pre-painted) is a set of miniature plastic carrier fighters from Trumpeter with a surface already painted at the factory.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set of small plastic F4F-4 Wildcat aircraft in 1:350 scale serves to populate the decks of aircraft carrier models. The Pre-painted designation means that the parts arrive with a colored surface already applied, so the laborious painting of every single example is unnecessary. It is not a model of an aircraft in its own right but an accessory for a ship model or a diorama.
The F4F Wildcat was an American carrier fighter of all-metal construction with a radial engine and a characteristic high-set fuselage with landing gear that retracted into the fuselage. The F4F-4 version brought folding wings among other things, thanks to which more machines fitted on the deck and in the hangar. That is exactly why the Wildcat turns up on ship models often and in larger numbers than other types.
The factory finish is the main value of the set, so handle it carefully. Do not hold the parts in your fingers but with smooth-jawed tweezers, as prints and grease show on small areas. After cutting a part from the sprue, sand the nub down with the smallest file surface you have and touch the spot in with a shade mixed to match the surrounding color, not blindly from the bottle. Propellers and small panels come to life when you only suggest them with a fine brush, as full detail at this scale looks coarse. Set the models on the deck at a realistic spacing following the real layout and fix them with a spot of cyanoacrylate.
This is an accessory set for ship and diorama models, not a large model of an aircraft in its own right. Glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
