Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat wheels, the early version is a resin detail set in 1:48 scale from the Eduard company. It replaces the wheels from a plastic kit with faithfully rendered main wheels with a crisp tire pattern.
Responsibility details are not available.
This resin accessory contains separate main wheels for the American Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat carrier-borne fighter aircraft in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit of the aircraft but replacement parts that swap the wheels from the plastic set for more faithfully rendered ones with fine tread relief, pressings on the hub and clean geometry.
The Wildcat was the basic carrier-borne fighter of the US Navy in the early part of the war in the Pacific. The form of the hubs and the wheel discs changed during production; this set corresponds to the early production version. Faithful wheels are among the most conspicuous details of the landing gear, because they sit in the viewer's line of sight.
Separate the parts from the casting blocks, wash any mold release residue off them and glue with cyanoacrylate glue. Wheels are often supplied with a cast contact patch that simulates the load on the tire, so when gluing watch the rotation, so that the flat area stands on the ground. A mask for spraying the tires tends to be included as well; paint the hubs and the rubber separately for a clean transition.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
