A detail accessory from Tetra Model Works in 1:350 scale. This is not a ship model but a wooden deck in real veneer that you stick onto the flight deck of a model of the Japanese aircraft carrier Kaga. The deck is laser-cut, with the seams and planks marked out, and it replaces the flat plastic deck parts with a faithful wood texture.
The Kaga was one of the large aircraft carriers of the Imperial Japanese Navy. Originally laid down as a battleship, she was converted into an aircraft carrier and belonged to the core of the Japanese strike force at the start of the war in the Pacific. Her expansive flight deck is a prominent visual element of any model.
Clear the plastic surface of grease and dust before sticking the deck down. The veneer can usually just be pressed on thanks to its own adhesive layer; to be safe at the edges you can use super glue spot by spot. The natural wood can be left as it is, or toned lightly with oils and washes and sealed with a matte varnish. Work in one piece and take care that the openings and borders sit exactly.
This is an accessory, not a ship model. The base Fujimi kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
