A set of turned metal barrels in 1:350 scale from the Polish maker Aber. They replace the plastic gun barrels on models of the American ships Saratoga and Lexington. It is a detail accessory, not a model of a ship.
The Saratoga and the Lexington were among the large units of the US Navy; their gun armament is a rewarding target for detailing. Turned metal renders the profile and the muzzle of the guns markedly more faithfully than injection-molded plastic.
Cut the plastic barrels off and replace them with the metal parts. Square up the ends, degrease the brass and roughen it lightly, then glue with cyanoacrylate glue. Lay down a primer suitable for metals before painting.
This is a detail accessory, not a complete model. Glue, paints and the kit are not included in the package.
