A turned metal barrel of the German dual-purpose gun of 10.5 cm caliber with a length of 65 calibers in 1:350 from Flyhawk serves as a replacement for the plastic part on a ship model. It is not a kit.

A turned metal part for models of German warships in 1:350. The real subject is the dual-purpose gun of 10.5 cm caliber with a barrel length of 65 calibers, that is a weapon used against surface and air targets alike. It is a turned accessory, that is an accessory for a plastic kit rather than a model. The metal barrel has a straight axis and a drilled muzzle and it removes the parting line that on thin plastic barrels cannot be sanded away without risking that the part is thinned or bowed.
Dual-purpose guns of 10.5 cm caliber formed the heavy anti-aircraft armament of the larger German surface vessels. They were mounted in twin mountings distributed along both sides of the superstructures, so there were markedly more of them on a ship than of the main caliber. That is exactly why on models in 1:350 it pays to deal with them in bulk; a uniform look to the barrels is clearly visible on deck.
Cut the plastic barrel off at the mounting mask, level the area and open the hole out with a micro drill to the diameter of the pin. Work from a smaller drill to a larger one, as the thin wall of the part cracks if drilled roughly. Glue the metal in with cyanoacrylate glue applied in a minimal amount, ideally with a pin. Degrease the part with alcohol before painting and apply a primer for metal, otherwise the paint flakes. Leave the fitting until the end of the build.
The set is an accessory for a model, not a kit in its own right. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
