Twenty turned barrels for the 2 cm MG C/30 anti-aircraft gun in 1:400 scale. A replacement for the plastic parts on models of German warships.
Responsibility details are not available.
The two-centimeter MG C/30 gun made up the light anti-aircraft defense of German warships. Positions carrying it were scattered over the superstructures and the deck, so on a single model you will usually find more than a handful of them. The abbreviation L/65 expresses the length of the barrel in multiples of the caliber, that is 65 calibers; it is not a figure for the caliber, which stays 2 cm. A barrel that is long in relation to its caliber is in fact exactly what makes the silhouette of this weapon recognizable.
Twenty turned barrels in 1:400 scale. The quantity matches how many positions of such armament there tend to be on one model, and a couple of pieces are left over as spares.
The barrels of light guns are among the hardest parts of a kit to get right in this scale. They tend to be thicker than they should be, and they snap while being cleaned up. A turned part is straight, circular along its whole length and may be more slender, so the superstructure stops looking like a cluster of shapeless bumps and the individual positions can be told apart even from the distance at which a model is usually viewed.
Get fine tweezers, good light and a light-colored mat ready that a part cannot escape from. Apply the cyanoacrylate glue with the tip of a wire, never straight from the bottle, or the joint will flood the area around it. Degrease the barrels before painting, lay down a base coat and keep the top layer as thin as you can so that the detail does not get clogged.
The barrels are supplied on their own. The model, the mountings, glue and paints are not included, unless stated otherwise.
