A finished collector's model of the Skoda 1100 MBX coupe in 1:43 scale from the birthday range of the Czech brand Abrex. The model arrives assembled and painted in a dark blue-green shade; there is nothing to finish on it. It is not a plastic kit, but a collector's piece meant to go straight into a display case or to be given as a gift. The details of the gift presentation can differ within this range according to current production.
The Skoda 1100 MBX coupe came about as a more sportingly tuned two-door addition above the sedan of the 1000 MB series. What sets it apart above all are the frameless side windows and the absence of a fixed center pillar, which gives the body a lighter and lower look than an ordinary sedan would have. The engineering stayed shared: a liquid-cooled four-cylinder at the rear and rear-axle drive. The car was built for a very short time and in small numbers, so today you are more likely to meet an original at a classic car meeting than on the road.
Dark blue-green shades are typical of the period palette of Czechoslovak cars and on a small model they look different from on a full-size car - in daylight they read as a rich green, and in warm artificial light they shift toward blue. If you light your display case, it pays to try both. Protect the model from direct sunlight, which lightens the paint and the printing over time. Brush the dust away with a soft brush or blow it off with a blower; cloths and cleaning products can wipe fine printed details away. When handling it, lift the model by the solid parts of the body.
The model is supplied finished and painted. It is not a kit; neither glue nor paints are needed.
