A collector model of the Czechoslovak Skoda 1100 MBX coupe from the Abrex brand. It is supplied finished, assembled and painted in a dark gray version, so once unpacked it goes straight into a display case. It is not a kit: it is a finished model and it does not need gluing or painting. The 1:43 scale is the most widespread among collectors of passenger cars, so the model will match the vast majority of collections in size.
The Skoda 1100 MBX was a coupe version derived from the production range of cars from Mlada Boleslav with the engine mounted at the rear. Against the ordinary sedan it had a two-door body with a lower, more sportingly conceived silhouette and was intended for customers looking for a more distinctive car than the four-door family version. It was built in small numbers and only briefly, which made it one of the most sought-after Czech classics. The designation 1100 moreover refers to the stronger engine compared with the basic 1000.
Pick the model up by its base or by the underside of the body, as fingerprints are harder to remove from glossy paint than one would expect. Sweep dust off with a soft brush, as a cloth on fine details does more harm than good. A display case protects a model from dust better than an open shelf, and avoid direct sunlight, as paints and plastics fade in the light.
