The set brings five resin castings of Swedish 250 kg mine bombs in the m/40 and m/50 versions, in 1:48 scale. It is not a model of an aircraft nor a kit, but an armament accessory that is hung on pylons or placed in the bomb bay of a finished model. Maestro Models is a Swedish accessory brand, and this kind of domestic munition is exactly what you will not find with ordinary kits from abroad.
The designations m/40 and m/50 are the Swedish way of writing the year a given piece of armament entered service, that is, the 1940 type and the 1950 type. A mine bomb is by construction a bomb with a thin casing wall and a high proportion of explosive relative to its total weight. It does not penetrate armor or deep cover, but it has a strong blast effect - which is why it was used where the destructive action of a shock wave on area targets was expected. The Swedish Air Force kept this category of munition in service for a long time and modernized it gradually from 1940 into the 1950s, which the pair of designations on this set reflects.
First wash the castings in lukewarm water with dish soap, otherwise the paint will not hold. On bombs the casting block tends to be on the underside or on the axis of the body - cut it off with a fine-toothed saw and level the surface so that the bomb beds down on the pylon. With five pieces it pays to check that the fins are in the same plane; small differences show on a model at once. Attach them with cyanoacrylate glue. Painting is easiest before they are settled on the model: primer, the base shade and finally the narrow identification bands through masking tape. Dry brushing the edges and a fine wash will bring out the longitudinal seams and the suspension lugs.
This is an accessory set, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
