1:48 3-inch Rockets 60LB - Conv.set

British 3-inch rockets with 60 lb warheads — conversion set (1:48, AML)

A resin conversion set from the Czech manufacturer AML with British unguided 3-inch rockets with heavy 60 lb warheads in 1:48 scale. This is not a stand-alone model: the set serves to add to or change the armament of a model you already have, and working with it is intended for modelers with experience of resin parts.

The real subject

The unguided 3-inch rocket was among the most effective strike weapons of the British forces in the second half of the war. The version with the 60 lb warhead was intended against tough targets, equipment, fortifications and vessels. A salvo of rockets had a destructive effect comparable to an artillery barrage; the weapon appeared on strike aircraft and toward the end of the war rocket armament was experimented with on ground equipment as well. In 1:48 scale it is a prominent item that gives a model a combat character at once.

Working with the resin parts

• Wash the parts in warm soapy water, which rids them of any mold release agent.
• Cut the casting blocks off carefully with a saw, as the slim rocket bodies are easily damaged.
• Glue them with cyanoacrylate glue, not with cement for polystyrene.
• Work out how the rockets attach to your particular model before gluing.

Who it is for

• For modelers who want to add strike armament to their model.
• For builders of dioramas and combat scenes from the end of the war.
• For advanced modelers with experience of resin.

The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
