A photo-etched set of metal parts for models of the Douglas A-1D Skyraider attack aircraft in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Douglas Skyraider is a single-engine carrier attack aircraft with a piston engine that came about at the end of the Second World War and served long into the jet age. It was valued for its large bomb load and for its ability to stay over the battlefield for a long time. The designation A-1D belongs to one of the variants of this family.
It is a set of photo-etched metal parts intended for a model in 1:48 scale. Photo-etch suits anywhere a plastic part is too thick for the scale: thin sheet, grilles, frames and small controls. Which particular parts of the model the set deals with and in what order the parts are seated is described in the instructions enclosed with the set.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not with nippers, otherwise the edge will bend. Make the folds over a sharp edge or in a photo-etch bender, always in one go and without repeated back-and-forth movement, so that the metal does not crack. Degrease the surfaces before gluing; metal holds best with cyanoacrylate glue. Apply a thin coat of primer to photo-etched parts first, otherwise the color coat will peel. Work with tweezers and over a mat, as the small parts are light and easily flick away.
The set is for modelers who already have experience of photo-etch and want to push the detail of a model beyond the plastic parts. For a first build it is on the demanding side. The kit of the aircraft, paints, glue and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
