Albatros D.III Oeffag, a pine wood imitation (Y), in 1:48 scale is an HGW decal sheet imitating the plywood skin of this Austro-Hungarian fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
This decal sheet brings a faithful wood grain in a pine pattern, adapted to the shapes and the plywood skin of the Albatros D.III fighter in its Austro-Hungarian Oeffag license version. It is not a model or a paint but decorative decals that replace the lengthy hand painting of the wood structure of the fuselage. The letter Y in the name refers to a particular variant of the grain pattern.
The Albatros D.III (Oef) was the most successful fighter of the Austro-Hungarian air service in the First World War. It was built under license at Oeffag from 1917 in three main series with Austro-Daimler engines; compared with the German original it had strengthened wings and better performance. The fuselage was skinned in plywood with a characteristic wood grain, which this sheet imitates.
Apply the decals to a smooth gloss base, use a decal softener and a fixative, and slit the larger pieces so that they adhere to the curves of the fuselage. Once dry, fix the surface with a clear coat; fine shading will pick out the grain and the seams between the strips of plywood.
The decals are supplied on their own. Paints, clear coat and a model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
