Decals in 1:48 scale for the Avro Lancaster B.III with the code OF-N and the nickname Mickey The Moocher, No. 97 Squadron RAF, station Bourn, the year 1944.
Responsibility details are not available.
This sheet follows one specific bomber: the Avro Lancaster B.III with serial number EE176, the fuselage code OF-N and the nickname Mickey The Moocher. The aircraft served with No. 97 Squadron RAF, which in 1944 operated from Bourn in eastern England and belonged to the units of No. 8 Group of Bomber Command. Its task was a thankless one. The crews took off ahead of the main formation, dropped colored flares over the target and by them the bomb bays of dozens of further machines coming behind them were aimed.
The B.III version differed from the original Mk.I mainly in the origin of its engines, because it carried Merlins built under license in the United States. The airframe, the bomb bay and the crew of seven men stayed the same. The nickname refers to a cartoon figure painted beside the cockpit, and a long row of symbols for operations flown accompanied it, which on a night bomber of that time meant a fair measure of luck as well as craft.
The set carries the squadron codes, national insignia, the serial number and the artwork from the nose. The printing is prepared for commonly available plastic kits of the matching size. Polish the area under a decal with gloss varnish, otherwise matte edges will appear under the carrier film. Let a motif soak briefly in lukewarm water, move it into place with a soft brush and soak the excess water off with a paper tissue. The package consists of the sheet alone; plastic parts and paints do not belong with it.
