A photo-etched detail set in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard, aimed at the defensive armament of the heavy bomber B-17 Flying Fortress. The set holds fine metal parts for sharpening the gun positions, the turrets and the fittings of the armament. It is an accessory, not a model of the aircraft in its own right; the exact contents follow the instructions in the package.
The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress was a four-engine American heavy bomber of the Second World War, famous for its massive defensive armament of many 12.7 mm machine guns placed in the nose, in turrets and along the sides of the fuselage. It was precisely the dense fire of the defensive positions that gave the aircraft the nickname Flying Fortress. B-17 bombers formed the backbone of daylight strategic bombing over Europe.
The parts are cut out of the fret, bent along the engraved lines and glued with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The set typically refines the gun cradles, the covers, the ammunition belts and other small elements of the armament that plastic cannot capture finely enough. Degrease the surfaces before gluing and paint with an airbrush for a uniform surface.
This is an accessory, not a model of the aircraft. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
