About product

Quickboost Bf 108 wooden propeller 1:48

A resin detail accessory of the Quickboost brand; this is not a stand-alone model. The set holds a one-piece cast wooden propeller in 1:48 scale for building a model of the Messerschmitt Bf 108 Taifun. The casting refines the shape of the blades and the hub compared with a plastic part and makes a faithful wood finish easier.

The real subject

The Bf 108 Taifun was a German all-metal single-engine multipurpose aircraft of the 1930s, used for liaison, training and touring. A number of the machines were powered by a wooden propeller, and a faithful rendering of it gives a model an authentic period look.

Fitting and painting

Wash the mold release agent off the propeller, cut off the casting block and line it up with the engine hub. It is bonded with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). The wood look is best achieved with a combination of a base brown, varnish and fine glazes. Protect your airways while sanding.

Who the accessory is for

  • Modelers building the Bf 108 Taifun in 1:48
  • Those who want a faithful wooden propeller instead of plastic
  • Anyone interested in an authentic period rendering of the aircraft

This is an accessory for a kit, not a complete model. The paints, the glue and the kit are not included in the package.

FAQ

No, the casting is resin. It does faithfully imitate the shape of a period wooden propeller, however, and it is ready to be painted to look like wood.

No. This is a detail accessory for a Bf 108 Taifun model; you need to have the kit itself.

With a combination of a brown base, glazes and varnish. The propeller is a single piece and is easy to paint before it is fitted.
