An injection-molded plastic kit of the British fighter Boulton Paul Defiant F1 in 1:48 scale from Trumpeter. It is a newer tooling with fine surface detail; the kit usually comes with a small photo-etched part and offers an optional position of the rotating gun turret. Check the actual package contents and the number of decal options against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The Boulton Paul Defiant was a British two-seat fighter of the beginning of the Second World War whose peculiarity was a rotating gun turret with four machine guns placed behind the pilot — the aircraft had no fixed forward-firing armament at all. This turret fighter concept did not prove itself in combat with single-seat German fighters, but the Defiant later found a role as a successful night fighter. The rotating turret makes it an unusual and easily recognized machine.
Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic; pay attention to the assembly of the rotating turret and the glazing, which is best glued with a canopy cement. Paint and highlight the interior of the cockpit and the gun position before you close the fuselage. After a gloss coat and the decals, bring out the panel lines with a wash; complete the British Second World War schemes with light wear applied with an airbrush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
