A British 500-pound bomb with its rack, 1:48 scale, is a resin accessory for an aircraft model, not a kit. It serves to complete a carried store on a model of a British aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is not an airplane model. It is a resin accessory from the Czech maker Brengun in 1:48 scale representing a British aerial bomb of the 500-pound weight class, that is approximately 227 kilograms, together with the rack for hanging it under an aircraft.
Carried stores are the detail on a model that sets the reading of the whole scene: the same aircraft with empty racks and with a bomb load tells a different story. Kits either do not hold these parts at all or handle them as split halves with a parting plane across the whole body, which has to be laboriously sanded away. A resin casting is in one piece, has a smooth body with no seam and more sharply cast fins and bands, which shows most on a cylindrical shape.
Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove the mold release agent. On bombs the casting block tends to sit on one side of the body or at the tail: cut it off with a fine-toothed saw and level the area with abrasive paper wet, so that the body stays circular. Check the fragile fins at the tail against the light; replace any broken-off corner with a drop of super glue with filler. It is bonded with super glue, and a primer is applied before painting. The color bands on the body of the bomb are best done with masking tape and an airbrush rather than a brush: the sharp edge of a band is what everyone notices on a model.
This is an accessory to a model, not an aircraft kit. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
