A plastic kit of the twin-engine light multipurpose aircraft Britten-Norman BN-2B in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Valom, in a form for Danish users. The Britten-Norman Islander is a British twin-engine high-wing aircraft with fixed landing gear, designed as a simple and undemanding machine for short routes and operation from unpaved surfaces. It made its name with regional carriers, with police and patrol services and with the armed forces of a number of countries, where it is used for patrol, communications and transport tasks. The designation BN-2B corresponds to a later production form of the basic line. Its robust structure and very long production history made it one of the most widespread light twin-engine aircraft of all.
Three places deserve the main attention: the joint of the wing with the fuselage, the engine nacelles and the extensive glazing. Offer the wing up dry and handle any gaps by packing them out rather than with filler alone, since the geometry of a high-wing aircraft is well apparent at first glance. Assemble and clean the nacelles up separately. Mask the glazing panel by panel with masking tape cut into strips, or with a suitable mask; the cockpit is well visible in this scale, so it pays to fit it out at least with seats and an instrument panel in a realistic shade. Spray the paint with an airbrush in thin layers and seal the surface with gloss clear before the decals.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
