A photo-etched set for a model of the swept-wing fighter Canadair Sabre F.4 in 1:48 scale. The metal parts replace those parts of a model that are to be paper thin in scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Canadair Sabre is the Canadian license version of the American swept-wing fighter aircraft F-86 Sabre. The designation Sabre F.4 was carried by the machines which in this form were taken over by the Royal Air Force (RAF) and entered into service in the first half of the 1950s as a transitional type, before home-built swept-wing fighters appeared. The Sabre was a cleanly shaped aircraft for its time, with a smooth surface on which every thicker part shows.
Injection-molded plastic has a manufacturing limit below which a part cannot reliably be made in a mold. Elements that are to be barely noticeable in scale therefore come out of a kit thicker than would match the real subject. Photo-etched metal sheet does not have this limitation and the difference is recognizable on a model at first glance. The set is worked out for a model of the Sabre F.4 in 1:48 scale.
Leave the fret whole and cut the parts out of it only at the moment their turn comes. Separate them with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not by twisting. Lead the bend in the marked groove over a straight edge or in a bending tool, otherwise a wave will remain on the part. For gluing, use super glue in a minute amount, applied with the tip of a wire. Wash the metal before painting, degrease it and go over it with a base coat for metal surfaces. Work over a surface with a raised edge, as a part that has jumped away is hard to find in this scale.
The model of the aircraft, paints, glue and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
