AML painting masks for the Curtiss P-40C Tomahawk Mk.IIB in 1:48 scale. Self-adhesive masks for clean spraying of the broken camouflage of an early version of the legendary American fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of painting masks from the Czech manufacturer AML for a model of the Curtiss P-40C fighter, designated Tomahawk Mk.IIB in British service, in 1:48 scale. The camouflage of the P-40 winds across the long slim fuselage and the radiator fairing under the nose, and its transitions are hard to outline by hand; pre-cut masks make sure that the lines join on both sides of the fuselage and that the pattern stays even over the whole model.
The P-40C was an early version of the Curtiss fighter with the Allison V-1710 V12 engine, characterized by a large chin radiator. Under the designation Tomahawk Mk.IIB it flew with the RAF in North Africa and it also became the first aircraft of the American volunteers in China. The rugged airframe stood up to hard conditions, and at low altitude the P-40 was an agile and tough opponent.
Start with a dry test: lay the masks on without removing the backing and check that the lines join across the fuselage spine. Stick them on from the nose toward the tail, and on the radiator fairing shape the film in small sections. Spray the paint square to the edge in thin coats and lift the masks off with tweezers at a sharp angle while the spray is still touch-dry.
These are painting masks, an accessory for painting. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
