An injection-molded plastic kit from the Japanese brand Aoshima in 1:700 scale. The model captures the Japanese battleship Yamashiro as she was in 1944 and is done as a full hull version, so you build the ship as a complete replica. The box usually comes with turned metal gun barrels, which give the gun turrets a faithful and crisp profile.
The Yamashiro was the second ship of the Fuso class and one of the oldest Japanese battleships used in the Second World War. In the late phase of the war she went through a major reconstruction and a massive strengthening of her anti-aircraft armament by dozens of barrels. In her 1944 form she therefore carries the characteristic tall pagoda superstructure and a dense battery of light guns. The ship was sunk in the night battle in Surigao Strait in October 1944.
Separate the small parts and the dense anti-aircraft armament from the sprues carefully with a sharp knife. Attach the metal barrels with cyanoacrylate glue and the plastic joints with liquid cement for plastic. A primer, an airbrush for the hull and the decks and a fine wash to emphasize the rivets and the details are recommended; fine railings can be added from separate photo-etched sets.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
