1:48 de Havilland Chipmunk T.10 wheels are Eduard resin wheels for a model of the British trainer in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item replaces the main landing gear wheels molded in the kit. A resin casting manages a sharper tire tread pattern, finer detail on the hub and above all the mold parting line that on plastic wheels the modeler has to sand away laboriously. A wheel is moreover at the viewer's eye level on a finished model, so the way it is worked shows up at once. Whether the wheels are done with flattening under load and how many pieces the package holds is stated on its packaging.
The de Havilland Chipmunk was a two-seat trainer of conventional layout with fixed landing gear in a tail wheel arrangement. The T.10 designation belonged to the British military version for basic training. Because the landing gear is fixed, the wheels are visible on a model all the time, unlike machines with retractable gear, where the detail hides away in the bay.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with dish soap, so that no mold release agent stays on the surface. On wheels the casting block tends to run around the circumference of the tire or on the contact patch; cut it off with a fine saw and level the surface on abrasive paper laid on a flat board, or the wheel will not sit square. Protect your breathing while sanding resin. It is fitted onto the stub of the gear leg with super glue; before you fix it, check that the model stands level and that both wheels seat the same.
This is an accessory for a plastic model. The model itself, glue and paints are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
