This is a separate decal set, not a model of an aircraft. The content is the main national insignia for Hungarian MiG-29s in the single-seat B version and the two-seat UB trainer version, in 1:48 scale. The set is intended as an addition to a model that is already built or under way; the base kit, paints and varnish have to be obtained separately. The number of sheets, the range of markings and the number of versions covered are stated on the box of the set, and it pays to look at it before ordering.
The MiG-29 is a twin-engine supersonic fourth-generation combat aircraft with a characteristic pair of vertical tail surfaces and air intakes under the wing center section. The version designated B is the single-seat combat one, the UB is the two-seat trainer with a reduced fit of avionics. Hungary operated aircraft of this type from the early 1990s and their national insignia changed during service. That is exactly why decal sets aimed at national markings are sold separately: they make it possible to build a particular aircraft in a particular period.
Decals are applied onto a smooth gloss surface. After painting, therefore, give the model a coat of gloss varnish compatible with the paint you used; on a matte surface air would be trapped under the decal and the result would be the so-called silvering effect. Cut the decal out as closely as possible, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it rest on the paper until it releases by itself. Carry it over with a brush or tweezers, blot the excess water away with a paper towel and press it down with a soft cloth. On engraved lines and rivets a decal softener will help, so let them dry and do not move the decal. Once dry, even the surface out with a matte or semi-matte varnish.
The decals are an addition to a model. The base kit, paints, varnishes and decal softener are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
