It adds and refines features that injection-molded plastic cannot produce at the right thickness or with the right number of shapes. Detailing sets for twin-engine bombers typically concentrate on the places where the model is examined up close and where simplification shows the most: the interior, the linings of the landing gear bays, the inlet and outlet openings, the flaps and small features on the skin. In 1:48 scale such work is rewarding, because the model is big enough for the detail to tell and the parts still stay manageable.
The Douglas A-26 Invader was a twin-engine attack bomber with Pratt & Whitney R-2800 radial engines. In US Air Force service it was designated B-26 from 1948, because the original A for attack aircraft had been abolished. The type was used at the end of the Second World War, later in Korea and in further conflicts; thanks to its high speed and load it stayed in service unusually long.
Finish and paint the interior and the landing gear bays before you close the fuselage up. Separate the small parts with a scalpel on a hard surface, and make the bends in photo-etched parts in a bender or between two rules. They are glued with superglue in the smallest possible quantity; degrease the metal parts and prime them before spraying. Wash any resin parts the set contains to remove the residue of the mold release agent.
This is an add-on set, not a kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
