Replacement wheels with flattened tires for a model of the F-14A Tomcat carrier-based fighter in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Grumman F-14 Tomcat was a two-seat carrier-based fighter of the US Navy with a variable-geometry wing that swept in flight according to speed. The F-14A form was the first production version and also the most numerous. The machine was among the largest carrier fighters ever built, so a respectable weight comes down on its landing gear and the tire is noticeably compressed under it.
The set brings replacement wheels for an F-14A model in 1:48 scale. The tires have a flattened contact face, so the model does not stand on a thin line of contact as it does with the parts from the kit, but rests on the ground across the whole face. It then looks weighted down rather than as though it were floating. Which wheel parts the set replaces, and whether the axle needs adjusting, is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Fit the wheel so that the flat face points to the ground and the axle stays level; before the glue hardens, stand the model on a flat board and let it settle under its own weight. The parts are not polystyrene and are bonded with super glue. Cut off the excess material with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder. Wash and degrease the wheels before painting. A tire is not black; reach rather for a dark gray tone and paint the hub separately, with a mask or a careful brush.
The aircraft kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
