This is a resin accessory for the F-16 model in 1:48 scale, not a model of the aircraft. It replaces the exhaust nozzle in the version matching the Pratt & Whitney F100 powerplant. A resin casting is not constrained by the parting line of an injection mold, so it can carry finer and deeper detail than a plastic part. The specific contents of the package are stated on the box of the set.
The F-16 was produced with two different powerplants: the Pratt & Whitney F100 and the General Electric F110. The nozzles and the rear end of the fuselage differ visibly between the two variants, so a mix-up is easy to spot on a finished model. Before buying, therefore, check which engine the particular machine you are building was fitted with; this set matches the variant with the F100 engine.
The F-16 is a single-engine multirole aircraft with one seat in its basic version, used by a number of air forces. It is built in many production blocks, which differ in avionics, armament and powerplant. It is exactly the differences between the blocks that matter to a modeler, because they affect the shape of many external parts.
Wash the part first in lukewarm water with dish soap so that it is rid of the residue of the mold release agent. Cut the casting block off with a saw or a cutting disc and level the surface; when sanding resin, protect your airways and sand wet. It is glued with superglue, as ordinary cement for plastic has no effect on resin. After the primer, bring the inside of the nozzle out with metallic shades and a dark wash, and add a light heat tint if you wish.
This is an add-on resin part, not a kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
