A photo-etched set of intake covers Eduard F-4 F.O.D. 1:48 for the Phantom II fighter. An accessory for a ground appearance, not a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a photo-etched detail set from the manufacturer Eduard in 1:48 scale. The abbreviation F.O.D. (Foreign Object Damage) stands for the protective covers of the air intakes, put on while the aircraft stands on the ground so that no foreign objects get into the engines. The set is not a model and not a kit but an accessory giving the model of the F-4 Phantom II fighter a realistic ground, in-service appearance. It is usually accompanied by Remove Before Flight tags; the exact contents follow the instructions.
The McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II was an American two-seat supersonic fighter and ground-attack aircraft, one of the most widely used Western machines of the Cold War. Its side air intakes were closed off with protective covers carrying conspicuous warning tags while it stood on the ground.
The photo-etched parts are cut from the fret, formed and set into the intakes. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). The covers are usually painted a bright red; they suit a model on a stand or in a ground scene above all.
This is a detail accessory, not a model of an airplane. The base kit and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
